Hello and Welcome to my blog!
I’m Nelly, writer, artist, designer, property manager and interior design and lifestyle blogger. I currently have a full-time job and I am a part-time University student for master’s degree, but as if that doesn’t keep me busy enough, I still make time to start design projects, write, paint and blog. I’ve always been the creative type and I cannot sit still to save my life! Fortunately, my creative projects actually relax me, which helps balance my overwhelming academic and professional life.
I am a DIY kind of person, if I can do it, why spend on labour? besides, most of the time, I actually enjoy being a handy woman! So, “why blogging?” you asked? Well, when my parents bought a cottage, I offered my services to renovate and redecorate it to represent them and to make sure they feel at home while sticking to the agreed-upon budget.
Throughout the project, I realized that whenever I went to hardware stores (multiple ones), they not only try to sell me more than what I need, which is understandable from a sales quota perspective, but what really gets to me is that they didn’t give me tips on how best to use the material/equipment. Their instructions were mostly: “read the label”, but we all know there is more to it than just reading. What I needed, is someone to tell me what I should watch out for or give me shortcuts, tell me which products are better/cheaper based on their experience. Instead, I had to spend hours on the internet researching and watching videos to get a better understanding and crack the puzzle. So, I thought to myself that I’m probably not the only one having these struggles, which is why I want to create this blog and share what I’ve learnt and any cool tricks I might have. This means get ready for a variety of real-life tips and inspirations about decorating, maximizing space and renovating, all while sticking to your budget. I will also be writing about trendy colours, looks, products, popular questions and more.
In short, if you are looking for tips or “how-tos” for projects like repainting your cabinets, rearranging your space, redecorating, or simply looking for a new project to tackle, this is the blog for you! I’ve also set up a newsletter to keep you up to date with the posts! Join below.
As you’ll go through my posts, you’ll get to know me better and you’ll notice that one of my biggest passions in life is, in fact, interior design.
